ALTEN Technology USA, a leading engineering firm with 3,000+ experts, is seeking an Exterior Launch Engineer in Long Beach, CA to drive launch readiness for exterior commodities from design intent through pilot and start of production.

The role requires 5+ years in automotive engineering, hands-on experience with fascias, claddings, moldings, and PPAP, and the ability to lead plant-based launch activities, interface with suppliers, and ensure schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Automotive Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years automotive engineering with vehicle launch or plant-side product engineering involvement.
• Hands-on with exterior body commodities (fascias, bumpers, claddings, etc.).
• Experience launching an exterior program and resolving launch issues with root-cause and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Own launch readiness for exterior commodities across all build phases, from prototype to start of production.
• Lead build event support at the assembly plant and prototype shop, including staging, first-time build docs, and issue review.
• Interface between exterior DREs, plant vehicle team, manufacturing engineering, and quality on part availability and process capability.
• Drive root cause and corrective action on exterior fit, finish, gaps, squeaks, leaks, and craftsmanship findings during build and validation.
• Manage exterior launch issue list and drive closure through design/tooling/process changes with clear ownership.
• Support tolerance and dimensional strategy execution including fit to nominal and datum verification.
• Coordinate part readiness with suppliers and purchasing, including PPAP status and timing.
