Job summary

Optimal Solution Company in Dearborn, MI seeks an Exterior Feasibility Systems Engineer to bridge Design & Release and Studio Engineering, guiding surface creation and ensuring releases meet engineering requirements.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, establish hard points, and address studio-geometry challenges using CATIA/3DX/Teamcenter in a hybrid role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years in design & release, design studio, integration or related exterior body experience.
• CAD experience is mandatory and tool knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Bridge Design & Release with Studio Engineering as feasibility lead.
• Establish engineering hard points to guide surface creation and verify releases.
• Work with cross-functional teams to resolve disconnects between studio surfaces and engineering.

Job Description:

Exterior Feasibility Systems Engineer will work as the feasibility leader between Design & Release Engineering and Studio Engineering to help do the following:
(a) Help establish engineering hard points to guide Studio's Class A Surface Creation (communicated via Master Sections creation).
(b) Assess Studio Surface Release to the engineering requirements (supported by D&R Engineers and Suppliers).
(c) Part of Co-Creation team to find solutions and address disconnects between Studio Surface and Engineering

Requirements:

• CAD experience is mandatory
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• 3+ Years of Design & Release, Design Studio, Integration or related experience in Body Exterior.
• Good interpersonal skills and leadership behaviors.
• Systems/ Integration experience working with cross functional team setting is a plus.
• Experience in CATIA/3DX/Team Center is a plus.
• Feasibility Engineer will be assigned to be the Vehicle Rear End Specialist.
• Prior Experience in Liftgate/ Tailgate/ PU Box/ Bumper/ Fascia/ Taillamps is highly preferred.
• Ability to draw 2D feasibility sections to guide studio surface development.
• Knowledge of injection mold tooling, design, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of sheet metal stamping, 2D CAD geometric compatibility/optimization.
• Experience working in a studio environment.
