Job summary

NC State University, through its Extension program, seeks a County Extension Director to lead a county-level education program and coordinate a diverse team. The role entails guiding staff, securing resources, and collaborating with county government and external partners.

The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, program administration, and outreach to all community segments, with travel within the district as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree plus 3 years of Cooperative Extension or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of service; if under 10 years, must enroll in graduate program and finish within 1 year of hire.
• Administrative and supervisory experience including HR development, fiscal resource management, external relations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage an interdisciplinary Extension team to develop an effective county program.
• Coordinate staff development, training, and performance evaluations.
• Market Extension programs and manage budgets and relationships with county government.
• Align program offerings with county needs and collaborate with external partners and agencies.
• Plan, organize, and work with diverse groups to implement educational programming.
