Job summary

New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service seeks an Extension Agriculture/4-H Agent to serve Doña Ana County. The role delivers education and technical assistance to youth, producers, families, and communities in agriculture, 4-H youth development, and community engagement.

The successful candidate will develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate Extension programs tailored to local needs and impact the LEADS 2025 goals.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in Agriculture or related field; degree in hand by hire date.
  • May be underfilled as Extension Associate I (Entry) with commensurate qualifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field with a 2.5 GPA or higher.
  • Must complete a master's degree within 5 years of hire to continue employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to Extension programs for adults and youth, including 4-H and community groups.
  • Collaborate with youth-serving organizations to advance 4-H Youth Development programs.
  • Support County Fair efforts; recruit and train volunteer leaders.
  • Work with county/district/state staff to plan and implement total Extension programs.
  • Promote CES programs to meet LEADS 2025 goals and engage non-traditional demographics.
  • Travel county-wide to deliver educational programming using a personal vehicle.
