Extended Term Substitute, Health Assisting Teacher (September 1, 2025 through no later than June 30, 2026)

Position Details

Available from September 1, 2025, through no later than June 30, 2026, at Rindge School of Technical Arts.

The Opportunity

The Health Assisting Teacher reports to the Executive Director for Rindge School of Technical Arts. This long-term substitute position involves working with a diverse student population in an urban setting, delivering instruction within a Chapter 74-approved curriculum that combines career/vocational/technical and academic education for students in Grades 9-12. Responsibilities include teaching industry aspects, safety, employability skills, and technical competencies per MA DESE Frameworks, as well as managing a business enterprise component.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with staff, administration, and healthcare providers.
  2. Teach all aspects of the Health Assisting industry.
  3. Implement curriculum to meet educational and employment qualification standards.
  4. Work effectively with a diverse student body, including English language learners.
  5. Maintain industry-standard equipment and supplies.
  6. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  7. Establish and meet business objectives for the program enterprise.
  8. Participate in advisory committees and maintain a program of study compliant with Chapter 74.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in the Health Assisting industry or vocational/technical instruction preferred.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of Health Assisting, including management and hands-on technical skills.
  • Understanding of G.L. Chapter 74 Regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible for or possess a Massachusetts Teacher's License; a Division of Career Vocational Technical Education license as a Health Assisting Teacher is preferred.
