Job summary

Catlin Gabel School seeks an Extended Day Teacher for PS & K to design and lead afterschool activities in the Village classroom, in collaboration with the Preschool teaching assistant. The role promotes independence, agency, and social-emotional growth within a progressive, inclusive setting.

The position is 0.5 FTE for 10 months, non-exempt, with hours 2:00-6:00pm Mon-Thu and 1:00-6:00pm Fri; Day Camps may add hours 9:00am-5:30pm.

Qualifications

• BA or BS from an accredited college or university, preferably in education or related field.
• At least one year of experience leading a preschool or kindergarten program.

Responsibilities

• Organize and develop the Extended Day program of activities for Preschool and Kindergarten.
• Design a program aligned with Catlin Gabel’s progressive pedagogy emphasizing student voice and agency.
• Foster an inclusive, equitable environment with a sense of belonging.
• Create and maintain an engaging, age-appropriate classroom space with open-ended activities led by students.
• Provide behavior support through a progressive, restorative framework.
• Serve as a link between home and school to reflect family–school partnership in after-school time.
• Ensure safe operation and compliance with Oregon Child Care Rules.
• Maintain communication with staff, parents, students and offices.
• Complete HR trainings annually (e.g., CPR, first aid, reporting, hazardous materials).
