The Riviera Ridge School seeks an Extended Day Program Assistant to support after-school activities for children aged 3–12. Part-time role from 2:30 to 5:15 pm, totaling 12–15 hours weekly, with a focus on outdoor play, supervision, and constructive activities.

• Plan and organize structured or free play activities for multi-age children, including arts, crafts, sports, and read-aloud sessions

• Monitor and manage student behavior to maintain a healthy environment
• Support positive social interactions and help resolve conflicts
• Supervise and track check-in/check-out of Extended Day Program
• Provide snacks and monitor snack supplies
• Model appropriate behavior in speech and actions
• Maintain close contact with school leadership and athletics/auxiliary staff
• Attend professional development and meetings as needed

POSITION SUMMARY

Applicants for the Extended Day Program Assistant position should present experience and skills with outdoor, playground, recreational, and after school activities for children from ages 3 - 12. This position is part-time (2:30-5:15 pm), after school, 12-15 hours per week.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS

• Knowledge and understanding of and commitment to The Riviera Ridge School mission, vision and core values
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Experience working in summer camps or afterschool programs preferred
• Training and experience in early childhood, outdoor or physical education, recommended
• Able to communicate well with students, teachers and families
• Proven success at working collaboratively
• Collaborative, personable and thoughtful ability to interact with students, families, faculty and staff
• Positive, energetic, and friendly

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Promote student engagement by planning and organizing a variety of structured or free play activities including team building, arts and crafts, sports, and read aloud for multi-age children
• Help students with homework when necessary
• Maintain a healthy environment for students by monitoring and managing student behavior
• Help children with positive social interactions and assist them in resolving conflicts
• Help supervise and track children checking in and out of the Extended Day Program
• Provide snacks and monitor snack supplies
• Model appropriate behavior in speech and actions
• Keep in close contact with the Associate Head of School, Division Coordinators and Director of Athletics and Auxiliary Programs
• Attend professional development days, faculty and level meetings as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work in school environment, dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
• Occasionally bend, stoop, and squat
• Be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
• Have current TB Assessment
• Must provide a clear fingerprint test and background check
• Have CPR and First Aid certifications or have the ability to become certified upon employment.
