The Carey School, a Preschool through 5th grade independent school in San Mateo, California, seeks an Extended Care Leader for the 2025-2026 school year. Responsibilities

• Planning and supervising indoor and outdoor activities for Preschool-5th grade participants.
• Providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment for all students in their care.
• Communicating thoughtfully and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Following and implementing school safety and disciplinary measures and procedures.
• Preparing and leading outdoor group games and hands-on art and STEM projects.
• Providing homework assistance and academic support.
• Maintaining sign-in/out records and following all related procedures.
• Maintaining organization and cleanliness of after-school spaces and materials.
• Collaborating with colleagues to plan and implement programming.
• Demonstrating professionalism at all times by upholding the school’s values and supporting its leadership.
• Operating in a friendly, flexible, and cooperative manner with all members of The Carey School community.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary age children is required.
• Early Childhood Education/Child Development units are strongly preferred.
