Job summary

BBVA in New York's Export & Agency team seeks a senior banker to arrange, structure and execute complex large-scale Export & Agency finance mandates with corporates, public sector entities and project finance structures.

You will originate and execute deals with ECAs, Multilaterals and private insurers, analyze projects, develop financing documents, negotiate terms, prepare lender presentations, and lead multidisciplinary teams while ensuring governance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Export & Agency finance deals.
  • Proven experience in winning and executing large-scale mandates with ECAs, Multilaterals and private insurers.
  • Knowledge and experience with derivatives is a plus.
  • Business School/University degree in economics or business administration, law, or engineering.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Originate and execute Export & Agency finance mandates for US & Latam clients and/or public counterparties.
  • Analyze projects (feasibility, risks) and propose improvements to achieve successful financing.
  • Develop financing documentation (contracts) and manage insurance policies with Legal services.
  • Negotiate terms with borrowers, exporters and financing institutions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to originate and sign projects.
  • Prepare Information Memos and Lender Presentations for lead role opportunities and coordination of bank meetings.
  • Drive the definition and execution of the business strategy, annual plans, budgets, and financial objectives.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across CIB products to ensure seamless transaction execution and client approach.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor junior professionals, promoting talent development and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure adherence to governance, risk management standards, and regulatory requirements.

Job description

As part of the Export & Agency team, the successful candidate will be responsible for arranging, structuring and executing complex large-scale Export & Agency finance mandates (transactions covered by ECAs, Multilaterals and private insurers) with corporates, public sector entities and project finance structures. The candidate will have principal responsibilities comprising the following:

  • Actively contributing to the origination and execution of Export & Agency finance mandates for US & Latam companies and/or public counterparties
  • Analysis of projects (feasibility, risks); identification of key issues and proposal of improvements to achieve successful financing.
  • Elaborate risk proposals detailing the underlying transaction structure.
  • Actively engage with ECAs, Multilaterals and private insures in the approval process.
  • Development of financing documentation (contracts) and management of insurance policies in collaboration with Legal services and/or external law firms
  • Negotiation with borrowers, exporters and financing institutions related to the terms & conditions applicable to the transaction and financial document clauses.
  • Collaboration with internal departments to originate and sign project.
  • Preparation of Information Memos and Lender Presentations for lead role opportunities and coordination of bank meetings
  • Drive the definition and execution of the business strategy, annual business plans, budgets, and financial objectives for the area
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across CIB products and corporate functions to ensure seamless transaction execution and an integrated client approach
  • Develop, coach, and mentor junior and mid-level professionals, promoting talent development, knowledge sharing, and a high-performance culture
  • Ensure adherence to internal governance, risk management standards, and applicable regulatory requirements throughout all business activities.
Position Requirements
  • -Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Export & Agency finance deals or a comparable background in investment banking or other industry.
  • -Proven experience in winning and executing large scale mandates and/or lead arranging positions with main ECAs, Multilateral Agencies and complex financing structures
  • -Knowledge and experience with derivatives is a plus
  • -Business School/University degree in economics or business administration, law, or engineering
  • -Fluency in English and Spanish is highly desirable

  • With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $210,000 to $260,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
