Job summary

The Boys’ Club of New York Inc. is seeking an Explorer Program Assistant to support planned activities, supervise members, and participate alongside them to encourage safe, engaging programming.

You will help facilitate lessons, manage behavior, and assist with safety and supervision, with part-time, non-exempt hours at our Bronx location. Prior youth development experience and First Aid/CPR certification are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Experience in youth development or afterschool programs preferred.
  • Well organized and able to work independently and with others.
  • Credits in college or technical school.
  • First Aid and CPR certification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, implementation and supervision of activities.
  • Assist in facilitating lessons using various teaching methods.
  • Supervise the movement of members in all spaces.
  • Ensure proper care of all area materials and report damage to the Explorer Director.
  • Use behavior management strategies and communicate incidents with staff.
  • Attend mandatory professional development trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $17.00 per hour

Job Summary

The Explorer Program Assistant is responsible for modeling positive social interactions through combined academic, social, health and recreational programming. He/ She will assist in the guidance, supervision, and safety of members, while participating in activities alongside members to ensure encouragement and support.

Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, implementation and supervision of activities
  • Assists in facilitating lessons, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and techniques
  • Supervise the movement of members in all spaces
  • Ensure proper care of all area materials, organize room and report any misused or damaged materials to the Explorer Director
  • Use behavior management strategies to defuse inappropriate behavior and communicate behavior incidents with the Explorer Director and other necessary staff
  • Attend mandatory professional development trainings
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in youth development, education, or afterschool, preferred
  • Well organized, able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Credits in college or technical school
  • First Aid and CPR certification desirable
