Job summary

The Boys Club of New York is seeking an Explorer Group Leader to oversee the direct guidance, supervision, and safety of youth, ensuring an engaging member experience. You will build rapport with participants through positive interactions and help manage program assistants and volunteers.

You will supervise a small group, plan age-appropriate activities, and support behavior management, reporting to the Program Director. This is a part-time, non-exempt position based in New York City.

Qualifications

• Experience in youth development, education, or afterschool programs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage youth.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.
• Independence and collaborative work capability; willingness to participate in trainings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and guide a group of 10–21 boys ages 7–10.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate curriculum activities and games.
• Provide guidance, problem solving, and behavior support as needed.
• Participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
• Assist with setup, cleanup, and transportation.
• Maintain safe, organized spaces and report issues to the Program Director.
• Use behavior management strategies and communicate incidents.
• Attend mandatory professional development trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Explorer Group Leader is responsible for the direct guidance supervision and safety of youth under their care while ensuring an engaging and intellectually stimulating member experience Heshe will build rapport with members through positive interactions in program activities The Explorer Group Leader will also assist in managing program assistants and volunteers

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a group of 10 21 boys ages 7 10 years old
• Plan implement and facilitate age appropriate curriculum activities and games for members
• Provide guidance problem solving facilitation and behavior modification as needed
• Participate in indoor and outdoor activities
• Assist with daily set up daily clean up and transportation
• Ensure proper care of all area materials organize room and report any misused or damaged materials to the Program Director
• Use behavior management strategies to defuse inappropriate behavior and communicate behavior incidents with the Age Group Director and other necessary staff
• Attend mandatory professional development trainings
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience in youth development education or afterschool
• Strong communication skills
• Experience managing multiple priorities
• Well organized able to work both independently and collaboratively
• Assocates or Bachelors degree preferred
• First Aid and CPR certification desirable
