Job summary

Dematic seeks an Expert Systems Engineer to lead technical development, testing, integration, and acceptance testing of the Dematic solution. This role partners with an interdisciplinary team to validate what is sold and drive successful delivery to customers across major field offices.

The engineer will coordinate simulations, define interfaces, and craft specifications while supporting customer workshops and ensuring program success. Travel ~60% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Controls, or Software Engineering is required.
• Master's or advanced degree in engineering preferred.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, ideally in material handling.
• Strong leadership and expert communication skills.
• Customer-facing ability and strong interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel approximately 60% annually.

Responsibilities

• Validate sold scope at turnover from Sales to Project execution.
• Participate in engineering discussions and project delivery.
• Attend layout and controls discussions with customer.
• Attend and support functional specification workshops with customer.
• Create system specifications for customer approval and understanding.
• Define interfaces between HW/SW/IT components.
• Coordinate required simulations and integrate results.
• Create and execute test planning and management (FAT, emulation, SIT, throughput, acceptance).
• Guide system tuning and adjustments.

This position can be located in a major field office - Wauwatosa, WI, Grand Rapids, MI, Dallas,TX or Atlanta, GA.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $134,250 - $196,900 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

This is What you Will Do in This Role:

• Responsible for as sold validation at turn over from Sales to Project execution. Can we build what was sold
• Participation in all the engineering discussions and actively participate in the project
• Attend & facilitate layout discussions internal and with the customer
• Attend & facilitate controls discussions internal and with the customer
• Attend & support the Functional Description Specification Workshop(s) internal and with the customer
• Generate System Specification for the customer approval and understanding of the system
• Define & agree on interfaces between components systems (HW/SW/Controls/IT/Subs)
• Coordinate required simulation updates and integration of results into the project
• Create & execute test planning and management to verify completed system:
  • Software Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • Internal emulation testing
  • System Integration Testing
  • System Throughput Testing
  • System Acceptance Testing
    
• Guide System tuning and definition of adjustments.

What We Are Looking For:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Controls, or Software Engineering, required (or acceptable alternative)
• Master or Advanced Degree in Engineering, preferred
• 10+ years' experience in engineering with demonstrated experience in material handling industry preferred
• Functional leadership and expert communications
• Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation.
• Ability to be customer facing, good with customer interaction.
• Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams who are regionally located
• Willingness to travel for extended periods based on project life cycle. Approximately 60% annually.
