  • 8–10 years of experience with database concepts, including how data is stored and accessed
  • Conceptual understanding of database platforms such as Oracle, SQL databases, SharePoint, and similar systems
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data discovery and scan results
  • 3–5 years of experience working with one or more of the following platforms: BigID or similar Privacy products

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical owner and SME for BigID Core and BigID Privacy Portal across production and non-production environments.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the end-to-end BigID architecture, including AWS-hosted components, on-prem remote scanners, SaaS integrations, and data flows.
  • Provide technical direction and design guidance for enhancements, integrations, and new BigID capabilities.
  • Act as the final technical escalation point for complex platform issues beyond standard O&M support.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring to the O&M team supporting BigID operations.
  • Review operational changes to ensure stability, security, and scalability.
  • Enable proactive issue detection and long-term platform health.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison with the BigID vendor, including support escalations, roadmap discussions, and architectural reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across Privacy, Security, Infrastructure, and Application teams to ensure successful platform outcomes.

Job Summary

Information Systems Technology Services is a unified organization comprised of various departments which collaborate effectively in order to deliver high quality technology solutions. The client is seeking an Expert Technical Lead to serve as the primary technical authority and resident subject matter expert (SME) for the BigID platform, including BigID Core and BigID Privacy Portal (SaaS). This role is responsible for providing technical leadership, architectural guidance, and long-term platform strategy for the BigID ecosystem. The successful candidate will act as the technical liaison with the BigID vendor, guide the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) support team, and ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and aligned with the client's privacy, compliance, and cloud standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader preferably with AWS experience. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA approximately once per week, or more, based on business needs or company requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Platform Ownership & Technical Leadership


  • Serve as the primary technical owner and SME for BigID Core and BigID Privacy Portal across production and non-production environments.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the end-to-end BigID architecture, including AWS-hosted components, on-prem remote scanners, SaaS integrations, and data flows.
  • Provide technical direction and design guidance for enhancements, integrations, and new BigID capabilities.

Data & Discovery Expertise


  • Provide expertise on data discovery concepts, including structured vs. unstructured data, data classification, and scan result interpretation.
  • Understand and guide how BigID scans and interprets data across platforms such as Oracle, SQL databases, SharePoint, and other enterprise repositories.
  • Partner with Privacy and Compliance stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements into technical platform capabilities.

Operations & Maintenance Enablement


  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring to the O&M team supporting BigID operations.
  • Review operational changes to ensure stability, security, and scalability.
  • Enable proactive issue detection and long-term platform health.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management


  • Act as the primary technical liaison with the BigID vendor, including support escalations, roadmap discussions, and architectural reviews.

  • Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on technical work with strategic platform guidance
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and long-term thinking

Education Requirements
