Minimum Qualifications
  • Prior welding experience in an industrial or shop environment
  • Ability to calculate angled and other various measurement data
  • Must be able to supply your own set of basic hand tools
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment (post-offer) drug screen and background check
Knowledge And Skills
  • Knowledge of properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding and forming objects, and of various welding fluxes and rods
  • Advanced knowledge of welding symbols and blueprint reading skills
  • Heavy machinery maintenance is a plus
  • Proficiency in utilizing welding tools such as TIG-welder, MIG welder, plasma cutter, arc welder, chop saw, oxyacetylene torch, etc.
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to use common hand tools
  • Mechanical aptitude
Responsibilities And Duties
  • Weld a variety of heavy mining equipment, stone plant and shop equipment, and related items
  • Read and interpret blueprints and manuals with attention to measurements
  • Verify specifications of components and the equipment being welded
  • Alter dimensions to fit specifications
  • Cut and join metal parts for fabrication or repair
  • Design and create jigs to aid in fabrication
  • Lay out, position, align, and fit components
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure for welding
  • Weld in various positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead
  • Examine welds for bead size and quality
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts
  • Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and strengthen metal as needed
  • Maintain records of work completed
  • Work within a high-production pace to meet supply needs
  • Attend regularly in accordance with company policy
