Job summary

New Smyrna Beach Animal Medical Center in South Carolina seeks an experienced veterinary technician to join our team. You will assist with restraint, triage, lab work, imaging, anesthesia, and nursing care for medical and hospitalized patients.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of professional experience, strong client communication, and comfort with radiography and anesthesia. Weekend availability is preferred, and SC licensure is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Experienced veterinary technician with 3+ years of professional experience required, ER/Urgent Care experience preferred.
  • Active SC license preferred but not required.
  • Proven punctuality and reliability with flexible weekend availability.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
  • Expertise in safe, low-stress animal restraint techniques.
  • Proficiency in blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimen collection.
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture.
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Restrain and triage patients; collect and analyze lab samples.
  • Prepare patients and assist in surgical procedures; monitor anesthesia.
  • Communicate treatment plans clearly to clients and document in medical records.
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging, radiographs and imaging workflows.
  • Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases, ensuring safety and welfare.

Job Description
** Job duties include, but are not limited to:**

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

** We’re looking for:**
  • An experienced veterinary technician with 3+ years professional experience required , ER/ Urgent Care experience preferred.
    • A registered veterinary technician with an active license in SC would be heavily preferred , but is not required.
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts.
  • Availability to work some weekend shifts.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.

Additional Information

_ Pay Range:_ $22 - $25/hr. depending on level of experience.
