Job summary

Alliance Animal in Aiken, SC, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team. You will perform anesthesia management, patient restraint, lab work, imaging, and nursing care for varied cases, ensuring high-quality client communication and accurate medical records.

We require 1+ year of professional experience; RVT preferred but not required. Weekend and overnight availability is required; ER/Urgent care experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of professional veterinary technician experience.
  • RVT preferred but not required.
  • ER/urgent care experience preferred.
  • Punctual and reliable with scheduled shifts.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management.
  • Knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Restrain animals safely and triage incoming patients.
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging and radiographs.
  • Perform lab work and collect samples (blood, urine, feces, skin).
  • Administer medications and monitor anesthesia during procedures.
  • Prepare for surgery and assist during operations.
  • Communicate treatment plans clearly to clients and maintain medical records.
  • Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
We’re looking for
  • A an experienced Veterinary Technician with 1+ year professional experience required.
    • A Registered Veterinary Technician would be preferred, but is not required for this position.
  • Previous ER / Urgent Care experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts.
  • Availability to work weekends and overnights is required.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques.
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens.
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture.
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards.
