Job summary

Brunswick Forest Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our AAHA-accredited team in Leland, NC. You will support doctors and technicians, restrain animals, prep rooms, assist with procedures, and help maintain patient records with a compassionate client focus.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary assistant or animal care experience.
• Comfortable safely handling and restraining dogs and cats.
• Strong communication and client service skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and continue developing veterinary skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during appointments, treatments and procedures.
• Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Assist with surgical preparation and patient recovery.
• Support blood draws, laboratory sample collection, and diagnostic testing.
• Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments under supervision.
• Monitor and provide basic nursing care for hospitalized patients.
• Clean, disinfect and maintain hospital areas.
• Communicate professionally with clients.
• Maintain patient information and medical records.
