Job summary

East & West Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support patient care, triage, and client communication in a fast-paced setting.

You will assist with lab work, imaging, anesthesia, and nursing care while maintaining compassionate, client-focused service. Training opportunities and growth are available within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Saturday shifts are required for this position.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, and processing laboratory tests.
• Confident and safe animal handling and restraint skills.
• Compassionate, positive, and team-oriented attitude.
• Strong communication and client service skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
• Comfortable adapting quickly as case flow and patient needs change throughout the shift.
• Motivated self-starter with a desire to continue growing knowledge and clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, and collection/analysis of lab samples.
• Diagnostic imaging, nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administration of medications and communication of treatment plans with clients.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Additional Information

Pay Range:$20 - $24/hr depending on level of experience
