Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking an experienced Line Clearance Trimmer to service Akron, Tallmadge, and Ravenna in Ohio. This on‑site, full‑time role offers an hourly wage tied to experience.

You will prune and remove trees around utility work zones, operate chainsaws and lifts, and join an active crew led by a foreperson. Growth depends on your initiative and performance.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors is essential.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Prefers CDL‑A or CDL‑B with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Line clearance experience or related tree work is a plus.
• Relevant pesticide licenses may be required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems.
• Perform pruning and removal for major electric utilities.
• Remove broken limbs from lines, roofs and objects.
• Apply tree knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with foreperson and ground support.
• Performance growth depends on individual initiative.

Position Overview

Davey Utility Line Clearance, is pleased to offer a key opportunity as an experienced Line Clearance Trimmer, joining our team servicing the Akron, Ohio and surrounding areas such as Tallmadge, and Ravenna.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
