Job summary

Smitty's Tree Service Inc. is seeking a Climber in Alsip, IL to join our tree crews. The role involves climbing trees to trim or remove them according to work orders, and performing related tasks around the shop and yard.

Responsibilities include safe operation of chippers, handling equipment, fueling and inspecting trucks, and communicating issues with gear as needed. A strong focus on safety and year-round weather work is required.

Qualifications

• Over 2 years of professional tree climbing experience.
• Knowledge of climbing knots and roping procedures.
• Ability to recognize deadwood without leaves on trees.
• Ability to climb 100 feet up a tree.
• Ability to climb trees without spikes.
• Ability to lift 50-100 pounds.
• Class A, B or C license preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Trimming & removing trees based on the work order specifications.
• Removing and trimming trees in hazardous situations.
• Positioning and operating the chipper.
• Miscellaneous tasks around the shop building.
• Filling up with fuel, cleaning out & inspecting truck at day end.
• Communicate any issues regarding equipment.
• Use of safety equipment and following safety procedures.
