Smitty's Tree Service Inc. is seeking a Climber in Alsip, IL to join our tree crews. The role involves climbing trees to trim or remove them according to work orders, and performing related tasks around the shop and yard.

Responsibilities include safe operation of chippers, handling equipment, fueling and inspecting trucks, and communicating issues with gear as needed. A strong focus on safety and year-round weather work is required.

Qualifications

• Over 2 years of professional tree climbing experience.
• Knowledge of climbing knots and roping procedures.
• Ability to recognize deadwood without leaves on trees.
• Ability to climb 100 feet up a tree.
• Ability to climb trees without spikes.
• Ability to lift 50-100 pounds.
• Class A, B or C license preferred, but not required.

Responsabilités

Job Duties

The Climber position generally consists of working hard with our tree crews climbing trees to trim or remove them. Other responsibilities may include:

• Trimming & removing trees based up the specifications of the work order
• Removing and trimming trees in hazardous situations
• Positioning and operating the chipper
• Miscellaneous tasks around the shop building
• Filling up with fuel, clean out & inspect truck at the end of the day
• Communicate any issues regarding equipment
• Use of safety equipment and following safety procedures

Qualifications

• More than 2 years of professional tree climbing experience
• Knowledge of climbing knots and roping procedures
• Ability to recognize deadwood without leaves on trees
• Ability to climb 100 feet up a tree
• Ability to climb trees without spikes
• Ability to use a spider lift and bucket truck is preferred, but not required
• Ability to lift 50-100 pounds
• Class A, B or C license preferred, but not required
• Ability to work in all weather conditions all year round
• Positive attitude and good work ethic
• Ability to speak English and Spanish is preferred but not required
