Job summary

Tom James Custom Clothing in San Antonio, TX is seeking a full-time Seamstress/Tailor or Master Tailor who excels in his or her trade and delivers the finest tailored clothing with meticulous attention to detail. Work is fully on-site with a 40-hour work week in a fast-paced environment.

The role focuses on performing high-quality alterations and delivering client-ready garments on time, with strong knowledge of fabric and tailoring concepts across men’s and women’s wear.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of tailoring experience in a retail or customer-service environment.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction for men’s and women’s apparel; ability to perform high-quality workmanship.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Self-starter; able to multitask efficiently with good time management.

Responsibilities

• Make adjustments to suits, shirts, coats, blazers, dresses and trousers.
• Shorten/lengthen sleeves and trousers; taper sides; adjust collars.
• Take in/out waist, seat and rise; ensure proper sizing for clients.
• Maintain professional interactions and track alteration production daily.
• Perform alterations and press finished garments; remove loose threads.
• Complete work promptly to meet customer delivery dates; maintain workspace and paperwork to daily assignments.

Tom James Custom Clothing sales office in San Antonio, TX is seeking a full-time Seamstress/Tailor or Master Tailor who excels in his or her trade and possesses a talent for delivering the finest tailored clothing with excellent attention to detail.

Employees must be able to work quickly in a fast-paced office environment. Weekly hours for this position are 40. Compensation for this position will be based upon our Piece Rate structure.

This is a fully on-site position, with attendance required.

Job Summary:

Performs alterations as directed for our clients' high-end garments and delivers professionally finished garments on time.

Demonstrates knowledge of fabric and standard tailoring concepts and procedures with quality workmanship for men's and women's garments.

Tailor Job Responsibilities and Duties:

To make adjustments to men’s and women’s suits, shirts, coats, blazers, dresses, and trousers. Included, but not limited to:

• Shorten/lengthen sleeves
• Taper sides of garments
• Lower collars
• Take in/out trousers waist
• Take in/out seat and rise on pants
• Shorten/lengthen trousers
• Taper trouser thighs and foot widths
• Ensure proper sizing of clients
• Manages all interactions with professionalism
• Tracks detailed alteration production daily
• Performs alterations on all garments submitted for alteration, presses finished garment, removes threads, and completes for client-ready
• Completes all work promptly to ensure customer delivery date
• Maintains a clean work environment and maintains all required paperwork related to daily assignments

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of tailoring experience in a retail or customer-service environment
• Strong working knowledge of garment construction in men's and women's apparel and ability to perform high-quality workmanship including hand and by machine
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Self-starter
• Able to perform multiple tasks efficiently with a strong organization of time
