Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) to join our team! SGS, LLC is a General Contractor / Design-Builder with openings for qualified personnel on a new commercial construction project located at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement EM 385-1-1 requirements & SGS's approved Accident Prevention Plan
  • Be involved in all aspects of the construction project from planning to implementation
  • Plan for and assign resources as applicable for projects
  • Supervise safety of all onsite personnel and subcontractors
  • Manage and enforce SGS’s Safety Program and Security Policies
  • Conduct regular safety meetings with trade subcontractors
  • Conduct safety briefings for all new employees onsite
  • Ensure all personnel onsite are equipped with proper PPE
  • Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, and government officials
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to approved plans and specifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects
  • Current OSHA 30-Hour card and CPR/First Aid certifications
  • Familiarity with requirements of EM 385-1-1, 2014 version
  • 40HR EM385 Certification
  • 24HR Fall Protection Competent Person Certification REQUIRED
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assist in performing certain work, and manage/subcontractors
  • Experience with USACE RMS software
  • Thorough knowledge of construction means and methods
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
