Job summary

Palmetto Propane, Fuels, and Ice is seeking a skilled Propane Service Technician to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair propane systems across South Carolina. You will handle tank installations, relocations, and on-site service calls with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of hands-on propane experience, a CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, CETP training, and the ability to work independently in field settings while adhering to NFPA,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in propane service or similar role.
• CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Propane Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the propane industry, demonstrated technical expertise, and the ability to independently install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across a variety of settings.

This position requires a safety-focused professional who is knowledgeable in propane industry regulations, capable of diagnosing and resolving service issues, and committed to delivering exceptional customer service.

The successful candidate must be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a field-based environment while maintaining the highest standards of safety, workmanship, and professionalism.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of propane equipment and systems.
• Perform propane tank installations, relocations, replacements, and removals.
• Conduct leak checks, pressure tests, system inspections, and safety evaluations in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.
• Diagnose and resolve propane system malfunctions, equipment failures, and gas pressure issues.
• Respond to routine service calls, gas leaks, emergency situations, and customer service requests.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory in safe and proper working condition.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, management, and team members to complete service assignments efficiently and safely.
• Participate in required training, safety meetings, and on-call rotations as assigned.
• Adhere to company safety guidelines.
• Ensure all work complies with company safety policies, NFPA standards, OSHA, DOT, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience as a Propane Service Technician or in a similar propane service role required.
• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements required.
• Acceptable driving record and ability to successfully complete required background checks.
• Strong knowledge of propane system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and applicable safety regulations.
• Ability to independently diagnose and repair propane systems and equipment.
• Certified Employee Training Program (CETP) certification or equivalent propane industry training preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Availability to work full‑time hours and overtime as business needs require.
