Job summary

Mead & Hunt, an award‑winning national architecture and engineering firm, is seeking an Experienced Project Manager for the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Building Engineering group in Chicago, IL. You will manage scope, schedule, and budget while leading interdisciplinary teams and pursuing federal, military, judicial, airport, and other projects.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of relevant project experience with 2+ years in project management, a PE license is preferred, and LEED AP,

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or other related field from an accredited college or university.
• At least 7 years of relevant project experience with at least 2 years of project management experience.
• If no degree, at least 11 years of relevant project experience with at least 2 years of project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Managing projects for scope, schedule, and budget.
• Leading interdisciplinary in‑house and sub‑consultant team members.
• Assisting with pursuing federal, military, judicial, airport, and other projects.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Developing proposals and monitoring scopes, fees, schedules, budgets, contracts, and subcontracts.
• Scheduling and facilitating team and client meetings.
• Providing project quality control.
• Developing and delivering presentations to clients, partners, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
• Providing technical guidance in your area of expertise.

As a result, a full‑time position is available for an Experienced Project Manager within our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Building Engineering group at either our Madison (WI), West Allis (WI), De Pere (WI), Chicago (IL), or Bloomington (MN) office locations.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing projects for scope, schedule, and budget
• Leading interdisciplinary in‑house and sub‑consultant team members
• Assisting with pursuing federal, military, judicial, airport, and other projects
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Developing proposals and monitoring scopes, fees, schedules, budgets, contracts, and subcontracts
• Scheduling and facilitating team and client meetings
• Providing project quality control
• Developing and delivering presentations to clients, partners, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction
• Providing technical guidance in your area of expertise
• Other tasks as assigned.

A valid driver's license and travel will be required (potentially up to 25% of the time).

The successful candidate must have all the following:

• A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or other related field from an accredited college or university
• At least 7 years of relevant project experience with at least 2 years of project management experience

OR

• If no degree, must have at least 11 years of relevant project experience with at least 2 years of project management experience

A professional license in engineering or architecture is highly preferred. Current accreditation as a LEED AP, WELL AP, or Guiding Principles Compliance Professional are also a plus.

The ideal candidate will have any/all the following:

• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• Experience managing medium to large projects
• Experience developing new clients and maintaining relationships with current clients
• Experience developing proposals including scope and pricing
• Experience with quality control
• Experience mentoring less experienced staff
• Experience or familiarity with AI-driven tools, platforms, or systems (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to enhance productivity, automate tasks, and reduce errors.

Salary Range: $115,000 to $150,000 - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set and/or location
