Job summary

Asante seeks a Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant to order, draw, receive and process laboratory specimens, ensuring accuracy and integrity across pre-analytical handling. In the cancer center, this role may support bone marrow biopsies.

Requirements include a high school diploma and Phlebotomy certification; one year of lab experience is preferred, with an NACLS-approved program potentially waiving experience. On-call and variable scheduling apply.

Qualifications

• 1 year laboratory experience or equivalent in a healthcare field is required.
• Experience may be waived with a NACLS-approved Phlebotomy program completion.
• Specialized hematologic NGS experience preferred (DNA/RNA from blood cancers).

Responsibilities

• Orders, draws, receives and processes laboratory specimens.
• Ensure specimen accuracy and integrity across pre-analytical handling.
• May support bone marrow biopsies in the cancer center.

Salary Range: $19.90 - $27.37

Shift Differentials

• $1.27 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
• $2.15 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
• $1.10 extra for working weekends

Position Summary

The Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant orders, draws, receives and processes laboratory specimens. They are also responsible for specimen accuracy and integrity in all parts of Pre-Analytical specimen handling. In the cancer center they also may support bone marrow biopsies.

Position Qualifications

Experience

• 1 year laboratory experience or equivalent experience in a healthcare related field is required
• Experience requirement may be waived after successful completion and attainment of a Certificate of Completion from a Certified Phlebotomy Education program (NACLS: National Association of Clinical Laboratory Science) approved by Asante Laboratory Leadership
• Specialized hematologic next-generation sequencing (NGS) experience involves analyzing DNA and RNA from blood cancers like leukemias, lymphomas, and myelodysplastic syndromes is preferred

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Certification/Licensure

• PBT : Phlebotomy Technician is preferred
• MLA: Medical Laboratory Assistant is preferred
