Job summary

Kaiser Permanente Northwest in Hillsboro, OR seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to support patient care under the supervision of an ophthalmologist. You will perform diagnostic testing, assist during examinations, and help prepare for minor surgeries and laser procedures.

Responsibilities include history taking, vision testing (including OCT, HRT, perimetry), intraocular pressure checks, instrument maintenance, EMR documentation, and front-line patient triage.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of full-time ophthalmic technician experience under an ophthalmologist, or completion of a JCAHPO accredited Ophthalmic Medical Technology program.
• Proven ability to work in a clinic with diverse patient needs and to document in the EMR.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients for chief complaint and collect eye history.
• Perform ophthalmic testing (vision, IOL biometry, intraocular pressure checks).
• Assist doctors during examinations, minor surgery, and laser procedures.
• Maintain instrument readiness and room cleanliness; manage supplies.
• Document examinations and treatments in the EMR; coordinate appointments.
