Job summary

APEX Research Group LLC is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our clinical research team as an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator. This position is ideal for an MA who has strong clinical skills and is interested in building a career in clinical research.

The role involves performing venipuncture and blood collection, vaccine administration, vital signs, specimen handling, and supporting study visits and documentation in accordance with protocol and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required; clinical MA experience required.
  • Experience performing blood draws/phlebotomy is required.
  • Experience with vaccine administration is required.
  • Experience obtaining vital signs and routine clinical procedures.
  • Excellent patient service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning in a clinical research team.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn EMR and clinical research systems.
  • Previous clinical research experience is preferred but training provided.
  • BLS/CPR certification preferred.
  • Comfort working with patients across age groups and therapeutic areas.

Job Summary

Apex Research Group is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our clinical research team as an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator (ACRC). This position is ideal for an MA who has strong clinical skills and is interested in building a career in clinical research.

Responsibilities
Clinical & Patient Care
  • Perform venipuncture/phlebotomy and blood collection according to study requirements.
  • Administer vaccines and investigational or study-related products as permitted by training, protocol, and applicable requirements.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, and other clinical measurements.
  • Perform and assist with specimen collection, processing, labeling, storage, and shipment.
  • Assist with ECGs and other routine study assessments as trained.
  • Prepare patients for study visits and assist Investigators and clinical staff with examinations and procedures.
  • Monitor patients during and after vaccinations or other study procedures and promptly report adverse events or concerns to appropriate clinical staff.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and patient-ready clinical environment.
  • Follow appropriate infection control, safety, and specimen-handling procedures.
Clinical Research Support
  • Assist Clinical Research Coordinators with the preparation and conduct of clinical study visits.
  • Review study visit requirements and help ensure all required procedures are completed according to the protocol.
  • Prepare charts, source documents, study supplies, and equipment prior to patient visits.
  • Accurately document study-related procedures, clinical findings, and patient information in source documents and electronic systems.
  • Assist with screening and enrollment activities, including obtaining preliminary patient information and identifying potential study candidates.
  • Assist with patient recruitment and scheduling as needed.
  • Track laboratory specimens and results and communicate outstanding items to the appropriate research team member.
  • Assist with investigational product, vaccine, laboratory, and study supply inventory and accountability.
  • Assist with maintaining study files and other essential research documentation.
  • Communicate with patients regarding study visits, scheduling, and study procedures while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Follow study protocols, site SOPs, GCP requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in study-specific training and ongoing staff training.
  • Work closely with Clinical Research Coordinators and Investigators to ensure study visits are conducted accurately and efficiently.
Administrative & Site Support
  • Answer phones and assist patients with general questions regarding appointments and study visits.
  • Schedule and confirm research visits.
  • Maintain accurate patient and study information.
  • Assist with data entry and updating clinical research databases/eSource systems.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and notify research staff when supplies need to be ordered.
  • Assist with preparing examination rooms, equipment, and study materials.
  • Perform other clinical research and medical assistant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required
  • Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting required.
  • Demonstrated experience performing blood draws/phlebotomy required.
  • Experience with vaccine administration required.
  • Experience obtaining vital signs and performing routine clinical procedures.
  • Excellent patient/customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow written protocols and instructions.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a clinical research team.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic medical record and clinical research systems.
  • Previous clinical research experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided to the right candidate.
  • BLS/CPR certification preferred.
