Job summary

Procter & Gamble Albany Plant is seeking mechanically skilled technicians to join the manufacturing operations team. You will help maintain and troubleshoot high‑speed production lines, perform preventive maintenance, and drive continuous improvement to lower costs while improving quality and safety.

The role emphasizes diagnosing problems, analyzing data, and sharing knowledge with teammates. The position is full-time at the Albany Plant with a two‑shift rotation schedule.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED & 2-years of technical experience in manufacturing or like industry
  • Applied mechanical skills in an industrial environment
  • Knowledgeable about different types of machinery and equipment commonly used in manufacturing including engines, pumps, compressors, turbines, conveyors, gears, bearings, and other mechanical components
  • Understanding the working principles, construction, and operational characteristics of these systems enables technicians to diagnose problems and perform maintenance or repairs
  • Proficiency in using a wide range of tools and instruments including hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision instruments

Job Description

Mechanically skilled technicians are being hired as skilled members of our manufacturing operations teams. Mechanically skilled technicians are responsible for enabling production throughput, reducing equipment downtime, troubleshooting issues, eliminating defects, and building technical mastery. They focus on initiating and implementing continuous improvement projects with the goal of delivering the best product, at the lowest cost, with the highest quality, and in a safe environment. They have mechanical technical mastery in order to successfully troubleshoot problems and to proactively improve production systems.

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting high-speed making, packing, process, and other machinery and equipment

System Integration

In addition to understanding individual components, a mechanical technician should have a grasp of how various components interact within a larger system. This includes knowledge of system integration, control mechanisms, automation, and interconnections with electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems. Understanding system behavior and interdependencies is crucial for effective troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, issue resolution, and root cause analysis for mechanical issues
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Able to rotate shifts (on a 2-2-3 rapid rotation schedule with 12-hour shifts)
