Job summary

Lynnhaven Marine in Virginia Beach is seeking an experienced Marine Technician to join the service team. You will diagnose, repair, and water-test boats at a waterfront location, working with a capable team in a busy dealership.

Responsibilities include engine diagnostics, electrical systems work, seasonal services, and ensuring high-quality workmanship. The position offers year-round work and opportunities for manufacturer training.

Qualifications

• Experience in marine and/or automotive engine repair.
• Marine manufacturer certifications preferred, but not required.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver’s license; Virginia Boater Safety Education Certificate required or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot marine engines, drives, and related systems
• Perform mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on outboard, inboard, and sterndrive engines
• Diagnose and repair marine electrical systems
• Install gauges, electronics, wiring, cables, and related components
• Perform seasonal services, including winterization and de-winterization
• Safely operate customer and company boats for diagnostic and post repair water test
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Clean and prepare boats following service
• Accurately complete assigned work within established timeframes
• Communicate effectively with the service team regarding diagnostics, repairs, and additional work needed

Lynnhaven Marine, a well-established, family-owned marine dealership in Virginia Beach, is looking for an experienced Marine Technician to join our service team.

We are looking for a skilled, dependable technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants a long-term opportunity with a dealership that values both its employees and its customers.

Our unique waterfront location gives our technicians the ability to diagnose, repair, launch, and water-test boats on site in real-world conditions. You’ll work with a knowledgeable service team in a busy marine dealership with year-round work and opportunities for continued manufacturer training.

What You’ll Work On

Our technicians primarily service:

• Mercury / MerCruiser
• Yamaha
• Evinrude
• Various outboard, inboard, and sterndrive systems

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot marine engines, drives, and related systems

What We’re Looking For

• Previous marine and/or automotive engine repair experience required
• Marine manufacturer certifications preferred, but not required
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned jobs efficiently
• Dependable with good time-management skills
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
• Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team
• Personal hand tools required; Lynnhaven Marine provides specialty and manufacturer-specific tools
• Valid driver’s license required
• Virginia Boater Safety Education Certificate required or ability to obtain

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Some weekend availability is required during peak season
