Safe Harbor Kittery Point is looking for a skilled painter to join our team. If you have some hands-on experience with marine paint applications, we’d love to hear from you. Experience with laying up fiberglass is a plus as are any other general boat yard skills. We have a fleet of storage boats in an inside heated environment that require a wide range of cosmetic work throughout the winter months, and a much larger fleet of boats that require similar service throughout the rest of the year.

Technicians prepare wood, fiberglass, and metal surfaces for painting. Paints parts, equipment, interior and exterior of vessels utilizing brushes, spray guns and rollers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Identifying what a properly prepped surface looks and feels like
• Ability to understand and assist in developing job estimates
• Attention to detail, pride in work
• Strong aptitude and good attitude
• Professional and team-oriented, but also able to work independently
• Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
• Other duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

• Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
• Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
• Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.

Technical and Physical Requirements

• 2-5 years’ experience preferred
• Previous experience with gel coat and fiberglass preferred
• Awlgrip training a plus
• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Any skills considered standard that a Technician (Painter) should possess
