Job summary

Ohio Transmission Corporation’s OTC Industrial Technologies unit is hiring a Machinist to fabricate, erect, install, and service shop machinery. You will measure parts, set up fixtures, monitor speeds, and ensure tolerances match specifications.

The role requires 5+ years of manual machining and experience with precision tools, plus willingness to work OT and maintain a safe, clean workspace. Proficiency with MS Office and ability to interpret manuals are essential.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; technical diploma preferred.
• 5+ years of manual machining experience.
• Experience using precision measuring tools and equipment.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals.
• Proficiency with rotating equipment manufacturing or repair is highly preferred.
• Industrial shop environment with exposure to noise, heavy equipment, and cutting fluids.
• Requires standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and manual dexterity.
• Availability to work shifts outside of normal work schedule, including OT on weekends and holidays.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office; Outlook, Excel and Word) and ability to operate Windows-based programs from a tablet, computer, or smartphone.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, erect, install, and maintain shop machinery.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using math and measuring instruments.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, machines and materials onto machines.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during machining.
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders.
• Measure, examine and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Set controls to regulate machining or enter commands for CNC media.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on shop equipment.
• Continued education and training to meet industry needs.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment complying with safety regulations.
