Description

Awnex is growing, and we're looking for dependable, skilled Machine Operators to join our 2nd Shift team in Ball Ground.

We're looking for experienced operators who are responsible, safety-minded, and confident in their abilities. The right person will be comfortable managing assigned work and keeping production moving throughout the shift while maintaining high standards for safety, accuracy, and quality.

If you know your way around manufacturing equipment, can read a blueprint, understand the importance of getting measurements right, and take ownership of your work, this could be a great opportunity for you.

As a Machine Operator II, you'll work primarily with aluminum and steel components and operate a variety of metal fabrication equipment.

Depending on your experience and training, you may work with equipment such as:

  • CNC and manual mills
  • Band saws
  • Press brakes
  • Shears and folders
  • Lathes
  • Drill presses
  • Other metal fabrication machinery and power tools

You'll be responsible for:

  • Independently operating two or more fabrication machines
  • Setting up and adjusting machines for accurate and efficient production
  • Reading and working from blueprints, drawings, schematics, and digital program files
  • Using tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools to ensure accuracy
  • Cutting, milling, shearing, and forming aluminum and steel components
  • Monitoring machine performance and troubleshooting routine operating issues
  • Inspecting your work to ensure parts meet quality requirements
  • Completing required quality checks and documentation
  • Using materials efficiently and helping minimize scrap and waste
  • Performing routine machine care and reporting equipment problems
  • Following established safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Working with your teammates to meet production goals and keep work flowing throughout the shift
Requirements

We're ideally looking for someone with around 2 years of machine operating experience in a manufacturing, metal fabrication, machining, or similar production environment.

However, we're more interested in what you know how to do than whether you meet an exact number of years.

You’ll be a strong fit if you:

  • Have hands-on experience operating manufacturing or fabrication equipment
  • Are comfortable managing assigned work and keeping production moving throughout the shift
  • Are dependable, responsible, and ready to work when your shift begins
  • Take ownership of your work and follow through on responsibilities
  • Understand the importance of accuracy, quality, and productivity
  • Can read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and production documents
  • Know how to use tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools
  • Have solid mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills
  • Can recognize when something isn't right and take appropriate action
  • Take safety procedures seriously
  • Communicate well and work effectively as part of a team
  • Are willing to learn additional equipment and continue building your skills
Summary

At Awnex, you're not just pushing a button and watching the same part come off a production line all night.

We manufacture custom architectural products that can be seen on businesses across the country. Our machine operators play an important role in turning raw aluminum and steel into the components our fabrication teams use to build those products.

Our 2nd Shift is a great fit for an experienced operator who likes independence, responsibility, and being trusted to get the job done.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with different equipment, expand your fabrication skills, and become an even stronger machine operator as you grow with Awnex.

If you show up, know how to run equipment, take pride in producing quality work, and can be counted on to keep things moving, we want to talk to you.

Physical & Work Environment

This is a hands-on manufacturing position that requires prolonged standing and walking, bending and reaching, operating tools and machinery, and regularly lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Employees work in a manufacturing environment around metalworking equipment and may be exposed to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
