Job summary

Carnegie Hill Veterinarians in New York City is seeking a licensed veterinary technician to join a busy general practice with a strong GP caseload. You will support doctors, perform venipuncture, administer medications, and monitor anesthesia throughout procedures.

You’ll also assist with surgeries, perform labs and imaging, maintain medical records, and educate pet parents while collaborating closely with teammates to ensure efficient, compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current New York State Veterinary Technician license.
• An Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology is required.
• Strong general practice experience.
• Confidence with appointments, treatments, venipuncture, and IV catheter placement.
• Strong surgical and anesthesia monitoring skills.
• Sound patient nursing and clinical judgment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable, proactive approach to supporting patients and teammates.
• Ability to thrive in a busy environment and contribute effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support doctors during appointments and examinations.
• Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
• Administer medications and treatments.
• Provide skilled nursing care and monitor hospitalized patients.
• Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Monitor anesthesia from induction through recovery.
• Assist with surgical procedures and patient recovery.
• Perform laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging.
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
• Educate and communicate with pet parents.
• Collaborate with doctors and teammates to keep patient care moving smoothly.
