Qualifications

  • At least three years of litigation legal-assistant experience in a law-firm environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Michigan state-court e-filing and familiarity with court rules and litigation terminology.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Outlook skills, including document formatting, proofreading, calendaring, and email management.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, accuracy, organization, and written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, anticipate needs, and follow tasks through completion.
  • Professionalism, reliability, discretion, and a client-service mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and litigation support to two attorneys.
  • Draft, format, proofread, revise, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery, notices, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
  • File and serve documents through Michigan state and federal electronic filing systems and confirm acceptance, service, and deadline compliance.
  • Maintain attorney calendars and docket court dates, response dates, discovery deadlines, depositions, meetings, and other critical events.
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical matter files.
  • Assist with discovery and document production, including collecting materials, organizing responses, preparing exhibits, and tracking outstanding items.
  • Support depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials by preparing notebooks, witness and exhibit materials, subpoenas, filings, and logistics.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, experts, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Protect client confidences and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Job description

Landry, Mazzeo, Dembinski & Stevens, P.C., an established civil litigation firm in Farmington Hills, is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to provide high-level support to two attorneys. Our practice focuses primarily on insurance defense and also includes personal injury, employment, municipal and governmental defense, real estate, construction, and commercial and contract disputes.

This is a full-time, in-person position for a proactive professional who understands litigation workflow, anticipates what comes next, and takes pride in keeping attorneys, clients, documents, and deadlines organized. The successful candidate will help manage an active caseload from file opening through discovery, motion practice, settlement, and trial.

Key Responsibilities
