Job summary

Asplundh in Washington, DC area is seeking an Experienced Journeyman Lineperson to assist with installation, operation, maintenance and repair of underground/overhead street lighting systems, focusing on fault location and repair.

The role involves climbing, working at heights, responding to emergencies, and requires pre-employment screenings and a CDL. Benefits include health, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Lineperson Certification required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
• Ability to work at varying heights, in confined spaces, and under demanding weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in construction, operation, maintenance and repair of distribution, substation facilities and systems including reconductoring existing lines.
• Attend to service calls concerning power outages and electrical problems.
• Receive training in book/classroom skills and on-the-job skills; continue training to advance.
• Work at varying heights above ground, in manholes, and/or confined spaces.
• Operate motorized equipment, use hand tools, and perform routine maintenance on electrical equipment, machinery, and tools.
• Follow safety guidelines as part of training.
• Stock and service vehicles to respond to emergencies.
• Work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of recovery force during emergencies and disasters.
