Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an experienced Line Clearance Climbing Trimmer to support Medina and Lorain County, Ohio. CDL holder preferred; duties include pruning, removal, and keeping lines clear for utility providers.

Work is on-site with a focus on safety, teamwork, and efficiency. Training and certifications are provided as part of onboarding for performed duties.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred for line clearance roles.
• Preferred: CDL Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Prior line clearance or related tree work experience preferred.
• Relevant pesticide licenses/certificates per state law when required.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems and prune or remove as needed.
• Work safely on utility projects for major electric providers in Medina/Lorain counties.
• Prune treetops, remove damaged limbs, and repair trees affecting lines/structures.
• Operate tools like chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts with proper maintenance.
• Coordinate with ground crew and foreperson to complete tasks.

Position Overview

Davey Utility Line Clearance, is pleased to offer a key opportunity as an experienced Line Clearance Climbing Trimmer, CDL holder preferred, joining our team servicing the Medina and Lorain County, Ohio regions for Lorain-Medina Rural Electric including areas such as Wellington and Ashland.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We're Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
