Job summary

McGrath Acura of Downtown Chicago is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to join our service team. You will diagnose, test, and repair complex vehicle issues, perform multi-point inspections, and work to Acura manufacturer standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional automotive repair experience.
• Journeyman-level repair experience preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Able to diagnose and complete complex repairs independently.
• Proficiency with factory diagnostic equipment and service information.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, test, and repair mechanical and electrical vehicle issues.
• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on engines, drivability, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Complete multi-point vehicle inspections and communicate recommendations to service advisors.
• Perform repairs according to Acura standards and safety procedures.
• Document work and maintain an organized work environment.
• Mentor apprentices and collaborate with advisors, parts staff, and technicians.

McGrath Acura of Downtown Chicago is hiring an experienced Automotive Technician to join our service team.

We’re looking for a skilled, dependable technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and is confident diagnosing and repairing today’s vehicles. If you have at least 3 years of professional automotive repair experience and want to continue developing your skills with an established dealership, we want to hear from you.

Acura or Honda experience is a plus, but not required.

Pay & Benefits

• $20.50–$47.50 per hour, based on experience, ASE certifications, Acura/Honda training, and productivity

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose, test, and repair mechanical and electrical vehicle issues
• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs involving engines, transmissions, drivability, suspension, steering, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems
• Complete comprehensive multi-point vehicle inspections
• Identify needed repairs and clearly communicate recommendations to service advisors
• Perform repairs and maintenance according to Acura manufacturer standards, dealership policies, and safety procedures
• Accurately document completed work and repair orders
• Maintain high standards for workmanship, efficiency, and productivity
• Mentor and assist apprentice and entry-level technicians as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Collaborate with service advisors, parts personnel, and fellow technicians to maintain an efficient workflow
• Stay current on Acura technology, factory training, and ASE certifications

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 3 years of professional automotive repair experience required
• Journeyman-level automotive repair experience preferred
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to independently diagnose and complete complex automotive repairs
• Proficiency with factory diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and service information
• ASE certifications preferred
• Acura or Honda dealership experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work productively in a fast-paced service environment
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
