Job summary

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office seeks Jail Deputies with at least 2 years of experience to join a team dedicated to the safety of staff, inmates, and visitors. Deputies engage in supervision, security, and rapid response to incidents, while maintaining professional conduct and integrity.

Eligible candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and no felony convictions. The role offers opportunities for career growth and involves extensive fitness and training

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire.
• Possession of a valid Driver's license is required.
• No criminal convictions as defined by Colorado P.O.S.T. required.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Exercises direct supervision over inmates and oversees inmate unit activities.
• Effectively communicates to provide information, directions, mediation, and de-escalate situations.
• Classifies, assesses, and responds to inmates; processes and releases inmates; takes fingerprints.
• Manages the inmate population by patrolling housing units and engaging with inmates.
• Restraints inmates using approved techniques and defends self/others when needed.
• Performs searches of people, mail items, and premises for contraband and risks.
• Engages in crisis intervention, emergency medical aid, and evacuation when required.
• Participates in law enforcement patrol duties and court appearances.
