Job summary

Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction in Colorado is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to own ITS and electrical scopes on heavy highway projects.

You will work directly with field teams, coordinate with CDOT and project partners, and drive resolution of issues to keep projects on schedule. This role targets seasoned professionals who can manage plans, specifications and submittals while ensuring compliance with CDOT requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy civil, highway or transportation construction.
• Past work on CDOT projects and CDOT submittal requirements.
• Strong ITS and/or electrical construction experience.
• Experience with traffic signals, lighting, ITS devices, or related systems.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specs.
• Independent, takes ownership, follows issues through to resolution.
• Excellent communication with field staff, engineers, inspectors and owners.
• Project Engineer experience at or above entry level.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of ITS and electrical scopes from planning through closeout.
• Coordinate traffic signals, roadway lighting, ITS systems, communications, VMS, conduit, and tolling.
• Work with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors and suppliers to keep work moving.
• Coordinate with CDOT, designers, inspectors and utility companies.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, documentation and material approvals.
• Review plans and specs to identify potential conflicts.
• Track progress, quantities, schedules and changes.
• Troubleshoot field and design issues and collaborate on solutions.
• Ensure work complies with plans, specs and CDOT requirements.
