Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center’s Medical ICU (MICU) is a 29-bed unit delivering high-acuity care and advanced procedures. The RN role emphasizes nursing process-driven patient care, safety, and teamwork, with opportunities to contribute to outcomes and quality initiatives.

The ideal candidate holds an accredited nursing program, 6 months of RN experience, and a state RN license, with BLS, ACLS within 6 months, and CCU ICU experience preferred for day shifts.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• At least 6 months of RN experience; not for new graduates.
• RN license issued by the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
• 2 years inpatient critical care RN experience preferred for day shift.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care per standards.
• Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience across the continuum using evidence-based practice and strong communication.
