Job summary

Kelso Industries in Phoenix, AZ is seeking experienced HVAC Technicians to join our service team. You will handle diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance, and optimization across large commercial and industrial facilities, using your strong technical instincts and safety-first mindset.

This role requires EPA 608 certification and 3+ years of commercial HVAC experience. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, mentor apprentices when possible, and maintain thorough service

Qualifications

• EPA 608 Universal Certification.
• 3 or more years of commercial HVAC experience.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting capability across both low and high voltage systems.
• Comfortable working independently with limited oversight.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers — air-cooled and water-cooled — including centrifugal, screw, and scroll configurations.
• Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
• Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and supporting equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.
• Communicate clearly with customers about system conditions, findings, and next steps.
• Adhere to all safety requirements, EPA standards, and internal company policies.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians when applicable.
