Job summary

Kelso Industries is seeking experienced HVAC Journeymen to service large commercial facilities in the Houston and San Antonio markets. You will diagnose, repair, and optimize complex chiller systems, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Ideal candidates bring a Journeyman license, EPA certification, and deep experience with BAS/DDC controls, plus the ability to mentor apprentices and work independently in mechanical rooms and rooftops.

Qualifications

  • Active TDLR HVAC Journeyman License (Texas) required.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience with heavy chiller systems.
  • Experience with BAS/DDC controls platforms.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting across low/high voltage.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers — air‑cooled and water‑cooled — including centrifugal, screw, and scroll configurations.
  • Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls‑related issues.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and supporting equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, EPA standards, and internal company policies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians when applicable.

Job Summary

We’re looking for experienced HVAC Journeymen Technicians with expertise in a variety of commercial HVAC systems to join our service team. In this role, you’ll handle complex diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system optimization across large commercial and industrial facilities. The right candidate brings strong technical instincts, a safety‑first mindset, and a track record of delivering quality service. We are looking for technicians to support the Houston and San Antonio markets.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • Active TDLR HVAC Journeyman License (Texas).
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification.
  • 5 or more years of commercial HVAC experience with significant exposure to heavy chiller systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with BAS/DDC controls platforms.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting capability across both low and high voltage systems.
  • Comfortable working independently with limited oversight.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Factory certifications or formal training on major chiller manufacturers.
  • Hands‑on controls programming or commissioning background.
  • Prior experience in hospitals, industrial plants, or large‑scale commercial buildings.
