Job summary

Kelso Building Services is seeking experienced HVAC Technicians for commercial systems in Phoenix to join our service team. You will diagnose, repair, perform maintenance, and optimize systems across large facilities with a focus on reliability and safety.

The right candidate will bring EPA 608 certification, strong electrical troubleshooting across low/high voltage, and the ability to mentor apprentices while delivering high-quality service.

Qualifications

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification.
  • 3+ years of commercial HVAC experience.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting capability across both low and high voltage systems.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers — air-cooled and water-cooled — including centrifugal, screw, and scroll configurations.
  • Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and supporting equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about system conditions, findings, and next steps.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, EPA standards, and internal company policies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians when applicable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on controls programming or commissioning background.
  • Prior experience in hospitals, industrial plants, or large-scale commercial buildings.
