Job summary

General Source Inc is seeking an Experienced Forklift Shop Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and prepare forklifts and related equipment in a shop environment. The role emphasizes high-quality repairs, safe equipment readiness, and timely turnaround to support sales and rental operations.

The ideal candidate is dependable, technically strong, and detail-oriented, with the ability to fix equipment right the first time.

Qualifications

• Experience as forklift mechanic or equipment technician.
• Ability to diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with LP gas, electric, and/or diesel forklifts preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Must supply own hand tools; specialty tools provided.
• Technical degree and welding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on forklifts and material handling equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems on various forklift models.
• Conduct engine tune-ups, brake repairs, and transmission servicing on LP gas, diesel, and electric forklifts.
• Replace worn or damaged components including masts, cylinders, pumps, and motors.
• Maintain accurate service records and document parts usage and labor for each repair order.
• Ensure shop safety standards and cleanliness are upheld at all times.
• Coordinate with service manager on parts ordering and job status updates.

About the Role

General Source Inc is looking for a skilled Experienced Forklift Shop Mechanic to join our team! The Forklift Shop Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and preparing forklifts and related equipment in a shop environment. This role focuses on high-quality repairs, safe equipment readiness, strong documentation, and efficient turnaround times to support sales and rental operations. The right candidate is dependable, technically strong, detail-oriented, and takes pride in fixing equipment right the first time.

Schedule

• Full-time, shop-based
• Monday through Friday 7:30am-5pm
• Must be flexible to work overtime hours when required to complete jobs safely and on time with overtime as needed based on workload.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on forklifts and material handling equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems on various forklift models

Requirements

• Prior experience as a forklift mechanic, equipment technician, or diesel mechanic required
• Proficiency in diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Experience working on LP gas, electric, and/or diesel-powered forklifts preferred
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Must supply own hand tools; specialty tools provided
• Technical degree, previous lift truck repair, welding experience, and knowledge of various types of testing equipment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a shop setting
• Welding & fabrication preferred
