Job description

KEEP MATERIALS MOVING. KEEP THE YARD SAFE. KEEP PRODUCTION SUPPLIED.

At PCC Structurals – Carson City, materials must move safely and efficiently between receiving, storage, production, and shipping. Our Experienced Forklift Operator takes ownership of that flow by loading and unloading trucks, moving industrial materials, receiving chemical deliveries, and maintaining an organized yard.

This is a forklift-intensive position for someone with recent, regular operating experience who is comfortable maneuvering loads in an active industrial environment. You’ll spend a significant portion of your day operating material-handling equipment and supporting the needs of multiple departments.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Operate forklifts throughout the workday to move, stage, load, unload, and organize materials, supplies, equipment, and scrap.
  • Load and unload commercial trucks, trailers, vendor deliveries, and other vehicles.
  • Transport materials between receiving, storage, production, and shipping areas.
  • Safely handle pallets, drums, totes, chemical containers, scrap bins, equipment, and other industrial materials.
  • Select and use the appropriate forklift attachments and material-handling equipment for each load.
  • Stage materials to support efficient truck loading, unloading, and plant operations.
  • Maintain awareness of pedestrians, vehicles, overhead clearances, load stability, and surrounding hazards.
  • Complete required pre-use inspections and report unsafe equipment or operating conditions immediately.
  • Verify incoming deliveries against receiving paperwork and report damaged materials or discrepancies.
  • Determine the appropriate staging or storage location for received materials.
  • Prepare outgoing materials, equipment, and scrap for pickup.
  • Coordinate professionally with drivers, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Safely receive and move chemical deliveries according to established handling and storage procedures.
  • Report damaged containers, leaks, spills, labeling concerns, or other unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain clear forklift routes, loading areas, emergency access points, and designated storage locations.
  • Complete receiving, inventory, cycle-count, and material-movement transactions in company systems.
  • Support continuous improvements in yard organization, safety, material flow, and efficiency.
  • Have recent, regular experience operating a forklift in an industrial environment.
  • Are comfortable spending a significant portion of the workday operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
  • Have experience loading and unloading trucks and trailers.
  • Can safely judge load size, weight distribution, clearance, stability, and equipment positioning.
  • Stay aware of pedestrians, vehicles, and changing conditions while operating equipment.
  • Take ownership of keeping the yard clean, organized, and safe.
  • Can adjust priorities as receiving, production, and shipping needs change.
  • Work independently and follow through without needing constant direction.
  • Communicate professionally with drivers, vendors, employees, and supervisors.
  • Are dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working indoors and outdoors.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Production depends on having the right materials in the right place at the right time. The Experienced Forklift Operator helps PCC Structurals – Carson City maintain safe material flow while preventing congestion, damage, delays, and unsafe storage conditions.

Your judgment and equipment skills will directly support receiving, inventory, production, shipping, and the overall safety of the yard.
