Job summary

Dalton Motors in National City is seeking an Automotive Lube Technician to perform routine maintenance, focusing on oil and filter changes, tire rotations, and multi-point inspections. The role requires at least 1 year of experience, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

Training is provided and safety procedures are followed.

Responsibilities

• Performs work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy
• Performs lubrication, safety inspection and related services
• Drains oil from crankcase and refills with required amount of oil
• Replaces oil and air filters
• Inspects vehicle fluids and replenishes as necessary
• Checks tire pressure and adjusts as needed
• Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts
• Documents all work on the repair order
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs
• Maintains a neat and safe shop area
• Ensures customer cars are clean and presentable
• Notifies service advisor of any changes to vehicle condition
• Operates tools safely and follows safety regulations

## DescriptionPay: $19-$22 per hour base **Company and Service Department Overview:**Dalton Motors services Dalton Toyota National City, and Dalton Subaru National City, and is located less than 20 minutes from most areas of San Diego. Founded in Guadalajara in 1945, Dalton Motors is a family owned and operated business with over 30 dealerships serving major manufacturers including Toyota, Subaru and others. They are continuing the legacy of Frank Motors, an automotive and community presence since 1965. Dalton Motors has a large and well stocked parts department and a Service Development Center (SDC) dedicated to setting and reminding customers of their service appointments. We have extremely knowledgeable and experienced service advisors who are highly productive and use to working in a fast-paced, customer friendly environment. We have ongoing training for our staff, including technician and service advisor/consultant training from the manufacturer, new product on-line training, and job specific training by our in-house trainer. Our service and parts areas run very smoothly in large part due to our solid processes and trained, skilled staff, many of whom have been at the dealerships for twenty years or more. **Position Summary:** An Automotive Lube Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance services on vehicles, primarily focused on lube, oil and filter changes, tire rotations and multi-point inspections **Dalton Motors Benefits:*** Full Benefits 1st of the month after 60 days of employment including Health, Vision, & Dental Insurance* 401k plan* Paid vacation* Paid manufacturer product training* Employee Assistance Program* Advancement opportunities## Qualifications**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:* Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.* Performs lubrication safety inspection and other related services.* Drains oil from crankcase and refills with required amount of oil.* Replaces oil and air filters.* Inspects vehicle fluids, replaces or replenishes as necessary.* Checks tire pressure and adds air if needed.* Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants.* Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.* Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.* Documents all work performed on the repair order.* Participates in manufacturer -sponsered training programs as assigned by service manager.* Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.* Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.* Keeps shop area neat and clean.* Maintains and is accountable for all dealership- owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.* Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to Know etc.* Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.* Reports any safety issues immediately to management.* Performs other duties as assigned by ownership, upper management and/or immediate supervisor.* Quality repairs on vehicles and vehicles fixed right the first time.* Minimum comebacks* Accurate documentation of work.* Keep customer and company vehicle damage free while in dealership's care.* Report all damages to vehicles and equipment, accident, injuries, and hazards to Service Manager immediately.* Maintain excellent department, manufacturer, customer relations* Maintain a clean and safe work area* Drive safely, obey traffic and vehicle code laws.**Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills,and Abilities)*** Minimum 1 year experience* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; and ability to work in team environment* Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively* Must have the ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and repair manuals* Must have ability to communicate effectively to customers, other managers, technicians, employees, factory technical specialists, or groups* Must have ability to write routine reports and correspondence* Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions* Must have the ability to define and solve problems* Must maintain accurate documentation* Possess the energy and drive to accomplish goals, meet deadlines and find solutions.* Must have a valid driver's license* Must be available to work weekends as needed.
