Job summary

SkyWater Technology in Austin, TX is seeking a Roughing Pump and Abatement Technician to maintain and repair roughing pumps and vacuum systems used in semiconductor manufacturing. This role ensures optimal pump performance, minimizes downtime, and supports production efficiency.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and collaborate with engineering and production teams. 12-hour shifts, days.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience in vacuum pump maintenance or related mechanical/electrical field.
  • Strong understanding of vacuum technology and pump operation principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts, days.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Roughing Pump and Abatement Technician is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of roughing pumps and associated vacuum systems used in semiconductor manufacturing. This role ensures optimal pump performance, minimizes downtime, and supports production efficiency.

Shift

Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 6:55 am to 7:10 pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) on rough pumps and abatement systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues related to pumps and the abatement systems.
  • Disassemble, clean, and rebuild the exhaust system.
  • Replace worn or damaged components such as seals, bearings, and gaskets.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in cleanroom or industrial environments.
  • Standing, bending, and working in confined spaces as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of different pump types (dry pumps, rotary vane, scroll pumps).
  • Familiar with Ebara pumps and Abatement systems.
