Job summary

Schnabel Engineering's Richmond, VA office is seeking an Experienced Engineering Technician to join our growing geotechnical practice. You will perform field observation and testing during placement of construction materials and support soil and concrete laboratory testing as part of a detailed, safety-conscious team.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, a valid driver's license, and at least 4 years of construction experience; post-high school education may substitute for some

• Valid Driver's License is required.
• 4+ years of construction experience; post-high school education may substitute for experience.
• Good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills.
• Able to perform rudimentary mathematical computations.
• Ability to lift 60 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather, following OSHA standards.

Job Responsibilities:

• Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and sprayed-on fireproofing
• Soil and concrete laboratory testing

Required Skills/Experience:

• High School degree
• Valid Driver’s License
• 4+ years of construction experience. Technical post-high school education such as a degree in engineering or geology may be eligible as a substitution for experience.
• Possess good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills
• Able to perform rudimentary mathematic computations
• Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, enter trenches per applicable OSHA standards, climb ladders to access elevated spaces and building rooftops, and work outside in potentially challenging weather conditions

Other Requirements:

• Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check
• Ability to pass a pre-employment screening

The compensation range for an Experienced Engineering Technician is between $20/hr to $30/hr. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors.
