Job summary

City of Greer is seeking an experienced Emergency Vehicle Technician/Up-fitter to build and maintain our emergency services vehicles. You will install radios, video systems, lighting, and other equipment while fabricating brackets and wiring paths for efficient service.

The role requires strong problem solving, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or with a team. Hours are standard M-F, with some overtime as needed; minimum wage is a function of experience at $27.60 per

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• 1–3 years’ experience or training in automotive/electrical installation or repair.
• Must have own tools and toolbox.
• Must complete required courses/certifications as deemed necessary by the City.
• Strong communication, problem solving, detail orientation and teamwork.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast pace environment.
• Must prioritize multiple tasks and work with limited supervision.
• Basic computer knowledge and professional demeanor.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Install equipment such as radios, video systems, radars, and lighting on vehicles.
• Fabricate brackets and routing for wiring and components.
• Develop wiring routes for efficient maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot equipment and perform routine maintenance on fleet vehicles.
• Follow schematics and instructions for up-fitting across various vehicle makes.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and complete all required paperwork.
